Most of us have experienced the pain of dropping our favorite eye shadow on the floor and watching it crack and crumble into a powdery, barely usable mess before our eyes. We try to keep using it but are eventually annoyed to the point where we give up and simply throw it out. Did you know that saving your shadow is entirely possible and way easier than you might think? The same goes for your broken blush. I’ve even saved powder foundation. Best of all, it doesn’t alter the color or performance of your product in any way! Simply follow these steps and you’ll never mourn another broken eye shadow again!

1. Using a spoon, end of a makeup brush, or other small, blunt object gently break up any remaining solid bits of shadow.
2. Slowly pour in isopropyl alcohol to the top of the eye shadow pan (% doesn’t matter but the higher the % the faster it will dry.)
3. After about an hour, place a square of tissue over the shadow and use a quarter to gently press down so that the surface becomes smooth once again.
4. Allow the shadow to dry completely over night.
5. Enjoy your eye shadow once again!
