A great way to make a visual reminder of your goals, dreams etc is to create a vision board. I must confess I have done this twice. The first time was many years ago when I was the leader of a sales and marketing team.  Working on the vision board with my team was fun and inspirational. Years later, when the company closed I looked at the vision board and felt the board and the meaning behind it was really shallow. I saw a lot of materialistic things on the board. The board was really all about me and how I could get more. Sadly I think most people take this route when they complete a vision board. It is usually all about my dreams, my cars, my houses, my money and how to get more of it.

I found this amazing vision board example on Oprah's website. Martha Beck is the creator and owner.

This past year on a date night with my husband, we spent the evening creating new vision boards. Although we have been together for over 14 years I learned a lot about my spouse. My thinking was completely different this time. The photos, statements and words centered mostly around relationships and spirituality as opposed to what I could get from this world. The thought was, “What can I give.” This time, I also decided to take the board and put it on my refrigerator where I could see it. It’s been really helpful to glance at it, as it helps to focus my thoughts on my purpose and vision. I found this affirmation/survey in Essence years ago and I kept it, I am sharing it with you if you are thinking about make changes this is a great place to start.

What about you, what has been your experience with vision boards?

Happy 2015!! This post has been updated to include a vision board video guide, I hope this helps you:)
