Last week was my kids’ spring break and we enjoyed a nice family vacation in Wisconsin, Dells. On Saturday morning as I settled in from a well-rested night of sleep in my own bed, I scrolled through my Facebook timeline and smiled because I was happy to see a friend and fellow blogger, Jocelyn’s Delk Adams, event “A Charitable Confection” was a huge success. Jocelyn worked as the event planner for four of my Chicago Naturals productions last year. If you know Jocelyn, you know that her personality can best be described as bright, bubbly and cheerful. I was so excited for her! Unfortunately, as I continued to read through my timeline I read on another friend’s page about the death of Leonore Drapper. Instantly I remembered her face and name. Leonore was a Makeup Artist and volunteered at one of my fashion shows last year.

I had also just interacted with her at a movie screening sponsored by IMAN Cosmetics. Leonore was Jocelyn’s best friend and a 32 year old Wife, Sister and Philanthropist. My heart is saddened by Leonore’s senseless death, as it appears that her murder was just a random act of violence. In my short time of knowing Leonore, I really appreciated her dedication of service to the community and her willingness to share her gifts and talents with others. I wish that there was more to say about this unfortunate situation but too be honest, I am still asking God questions about Leonore’s death and why did it happen. In times like these my faith is really tested. I guess I just want my readers to know who Leonore was and how she impacted the lives of many. Most of all I want you to know Jocelyn, that I stand with you. Her death will not be in vain. We will work together to combat violence in Chicago. On behalf of Chicago’s Makeup Artist community, to Leonore’s family and friends please accept my sincere condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
