I also like to do other arts and crafts and do home decorating. My motto: Work hard, Play hard. I believe in balance and enjoying the fruits of all of your labor.

Marita A: How long have you been natural?

Tiffany H: I’ve been natural for 1 year 6 months now.

Marita A: What inspired you to go natural?

Tiffany H:  Honestly,  my hair was extremely damaged. It started breaking off and falling out. I was almost forced into it.

Marita A: Who are your YouTube or Facebook “hairspirations”?

Tiffany H: My main “hairspirations” are the Monroe sisters definitely. I just love their style and personality. Their journey is a bit similar to mine.

Marita A: What was the most difficult part of transitioning to natural?

Tiffany H: Not knowing what products to use at first. Also, adjusting to my hair being so short, I had no idea what to do with it.

Marita A: How did your family, friends, spouse or significant other react to your hair’s new kinky texture?

Tiffany H: My husband was completely fine with it and actually prefers it. Some of my family and friends were a bit judgmental at first, but once they saw it wasn’t a “phase” they started ask me questions about how to start their own journey.

Marita A: What’s in your makeup bag?

Tiffany H: Very little MAC, lol! NYX Cosmetics, NK Cosmetics, Shany Cosmetics , and a Coastal Scents 250 palette, just to sum it up!

Marita A: What is your wash day routine like?

Tiffany H: I moisturize my hair with a spritz of water and coconut oil the day before I actually wash. The next day I usually wash my hair with Beautiful Textures Detangling Shampoo and then their leave in Detangling conditioner. Then, I either twist or braid my hair and let it air dry.

Marita A: How did you keep your skin naturally beautiful?

Tiffany H: I use an oil free cleanser every morning and right before bed. I also use an astringent to prevent breakouts.

Marita A: Did you go through any kind of personal/spiritual transformation while going through the process of going natural?

Tiffany H: I just learned to love my natural self; my hair, body, and spirit on the inside and out without any makeup, relaxers, etc.

Marita A: What are some of your favorite hair styles?

Tiffany H: Definitely the twist out! It doesn’t matter if its flat twists or individual. Also any braided updo so that I don’t have to style my hair as often.

Marita A: What encouragement can you give to someone who maybe considering going natural?

Tiffany H: I say go for it and don’t hesitate, you’ll definitely love it. As a young black woman raising two black girls, I think it’s important to understand and teach them that your natural state is the most beautiful way to be. Makeup, relaxers and weaves are okay if that’s what you want but it doesn’t and shouldn’t define your beauty.
